Well Suited for the Affair
Christopher James Menswear boutique has the allure of a gentlemen’s club where you know the members truly enjoy their membership.
For the past eight years, owner Chris Lambert and his team have been helping Fort Wayne men look great regardless of the setting or occasion. “Men are definitely getting more interested in their appearance and attire,” said Lambert.
In today’s more casual world, Lambert knows that for many young men dressing for their weddings, be it a suit or tuxedo, is the first time that they have to really think about what they wear. To assist with dressing for this affair, Christopher James offers everything from bespoke suits and tuxedos to assisting with rentals for the wedding party.
“The trend is definitely moving away from the wedding tux to a formal suit. Though we still do a large tux rental business, we are seeing more suit rentals or suit purchases than in years past. For weddings, it is the vibrant navy blue or grey suits that are the most popular,” he said.
For rentals, the boutique can fully dress the groom and groomsmen in everything from jacket, pants, vest/suspender, shoes, shirt and tie. Its rental suit selection includes designs by Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole and The MOD.
On average, it costs $250 to rent a suit for a wedding. Knowing that men might want to purchase a suit rather than rent – offering more wear for their buck – Christopher James offers an opening price suit at $245 and is proud to introduce the Ralph Lauren Special Occasion Collection. This collection is a higher-quality suiting in better fabrications that offers the purchase of a suit, blazer or pant.
The Ralph Lauren collection also offers more styles and fabric options, and is available in a wider range of sizes from boys 4 to men’s 58 Long.
Not only does the staff at Christopher James provide highly-attentive service to each client, it also offers bespoke and customized suits, tuxes and shirts. For shirting, men may not only get bespoke shirts, but also semi-custom shirts where the color, collar type, cut of shirt, cuff style, sleeve length and buttonhole thread colors may be customized. In many cases, bespoke and semi-custom suiting and shirts are not that much more expensive than off-the-rack suiting.
“We help men build a wardrobe, not just buy clothes,” said Lambert. “We offer fashion, not just the basics. We want all of our clients to dress well.” 6410 W. Jefferson Boulevard, 260.436.4788,
